My Story
I am the proud founder of Elite Mindset Counseling LLC. My greatest passion is to support and watch my amazing daughter grow up. Like her, I grew up playing lots of sports. I was in a junior dance company, ice skated competitively, won high point champion as a swimmer, and played on any basketball team that would let me- a lot of times on boys teams.
I loved competing. I also became good at criticizing myself and my teammates and struggled to be as mentally stealth as I wanted to be. Even though I played on great teams, won a state title for basketball in high school, lost only 14 games my four years in college, I struggled with my inner critic. When I played professional basketball overseas, I realized that I lacked the mental health skills necessary to continue with the sport. After we won the league my first season, I went home feeling defeated and frustrated. I was missing a key component of training. My second season was not better and I ended up coming home in the middle of the season ready to try something new.
When I retired from playing, I began my coaching career as the graduate assistant for the University of Missouri women's basketball team. After graduating with my masters, I continued on to coach at my alma mater, Washington University in St Louis, where we lost the national championship game. I went on to have a very successful career as an assistant coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University and won multiple league and tournament championships.
However, again I realized I was missing something. My players needed so much more than a coach who knew the X's and O's. I decided to earn my masters in counseling and became a therapist, working with clients with anxiety, perfectionism, depression, ADHD, and various other diagnoses.
I created Elite Mindset Counseling LLC because I knew I had the tools and experience to support athletes the way I needed the support so long ago. The most important muscle we will use is between our ears. It's time to start training it like we train the rest of our bodies. I have experience in all the "positions" - athlete, coach, and now parent. I have competed as an individual and alongside a team. I know what it takes to win championships. I am so excited to help athletes, teams, coaches and parents on their journey.
